A beautiful grand antique brass table lamp which has been recently converted from a brass oil lamp.  Thought to date back to around 1865, made by James Hinks the brass knob is stamped with the maker's name 'HINKS No 2 Safety'.

In very good antique condition there are a few minor dinks in the brass work and minor signs of age.

It is a solid, sturdy and well made lamp mounted on a circular black gloss base. There is one small chip on the black base - please see photo.

Supplied with a 4 watt, golf ball LED filament lamp in warm white. Newly refurbished with a generous 2.5m gold cord with black switch and black 3 pin plug.  It also has a new light fitting which will hold any lampshade.

These lamps were also known as a storm lamps due to the elongated cylindrical glass shade that covered the flame and protected it from the elements. This lamp is complete with the cylindrical glass shade.  Should you wish you add your own lampshade, simply remove the glass shade. Photos show the lamp both with and without the glass shade.

This lamp has been converted by a CE certified engineer.
Safety Note: place on a flat and stable surface. Use maximum 4 w LED bulb.

Height without glass shade:  46cm tall from base to top of brass light holder.
Height with glass shade: 64cm tall.
Base diameter 17.5cm.

A stunning lamp that would look fabulous in any entrance hall, living or dining room.

James Hinks later traded from 1858 as 'James Hinks & Sons Crystal Lamp Works' and were located on the corner of Great Hampton Street and Hockley Street  in Birmingham.  The company also had a base in London.
